Lunar New Year at PEM

Celebrate the Lunar New Year (aka Chinese New Year) with the entire family at PEM as you welcome the Year of the Snake. Join the festive mood in the Atrium — watch dance performances, create your own festive door god or mini dragon, hear some stories, experience traditional dance and performances, and take a family tour!

Enjoy the day-long event program with performances, exhibits, movies and activities that include:

  • Gund Kwok Asian Women's Lion and Dragon Dance Troupe
• Drop In Gallery Exploration
  • Explore hidden symbols in an incredible silk robe
• Performance
  • The Chinese Folk Art Workshop present Diabolo, Drumming and Folk Dances
• Drop In Art Activity
  • Collaborate on the creation of a large snake sculpture using silk fabric and ribbons
• Story Time
  • For kids 3 and up
  • Educator Li Min Mo as she tells lively stories of the Lunar New Year zodiac and sings traditional Chinese rhymes and songs.
• Live Animal Demonstration
  • Curious Creatures will present live snakes big and small!
• Performance -Cubs Lion Dance
  • Part of the Gund Kwok Dance Troupe, the Cubs are ages 6-9 and have mastered the Lion Dance.
